Tea Time Scones

There's just something about this classic Scottish scone that makes me want to keep binging on. On days when I feel like a hot pot of English Tea and an interesting read...I have to have my scones for company. I like it plain or during times when I feel like a little bit of indulgence, a dollop of whipped cream and some rose apricot jam works wonders.
My husband prefers honey and maple syrup...I think it tastes fabulous any which ways. Oh, and the aroma of freshly baked scones that will fill your home seals that perfect cozy Sunday evening!
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
A pinch of salt
1/2 cup butter
1 beaten egg
1/2 cup skimmed milk
Method
Begin by preheating the oven to 200°C and grease a baking sheet. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add butter and mix well. Add a beaten egg and milk and continue mixing to form the dough. Knead the dough on a floured work surface. Roll it out into a big circle with about 1 inch thickness. Cut out 8 wedges or circular scones. Place on the baking sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until the scones turn golden brown. Serve them as-is or with some jam, whipped cream, maple syrup, whatever you prefer!
